Self Rescue Workshop

This workshop is for intermediate climbers looking to learn and practice the core skills of self rescue. If you climb on sea cliffs or remote mountain crags these may be essential.

We cover-

-Emergency procedures and kit, avoiding problems before they happen and being prepared when they do.

-Ascending a rope, if you swing into space or need to escape a sea cliff.

-Tying off your belay device to go hands free or go for help.

-Belaying and lowering with an Italian/munter hitch, handy if you drop your belay device

-Abseiling including rescue by abseil.

-Plenty of tips and tricks along the way.

I add further skills at your pace, such as lowering past a knot, jumaring with ascenders and escaping the system in trad.

We can also discuss any adventures you have planned or previous experiences and tailor the day accordingly.

This course is very popular and great fun to run!

Feedback from previous courses

From Jack-

Great workshop, Jamie is super knowledgeable and has lots of useful tips and tricks to make the processes more efficient. There was ample time to practice all the techniques and it was good to have a safe and controlled environment to practice in. Highly recommend!

From Sarah-

Jamie was really calm and clear in his teaching approach and we covered lots during the day, without it feeling overwhelming. I've definitely come away feeling that I've learned some of what there is to know about abseiling and self-rescues and it's been a good foundation in building my confidence to try stuff out again in the future.
