Family Holiday Adventures

I am all too aware how difficult it can be to entertain kids across the summer holidays :)

I offer family specific mid week days, aimed at families with young people who climb already.

If you need a taster session for those who haven’t climbed before, I’m happy to recommend Bristol based companies such as Up and Under and TCA.

My days out suit young people and families who climb indoors already, for instance working towards the NICAS awards. These days can be a building block towards your child becoming a fully fledged sport, trad, or even alpine climber!

As a rough rule of thumb if your child has their own harness and attends a kids club or similar then this is for them.

Please note — Currently on my courses under 18’s have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Depending on the itinerary this adult can either join in or be a spectator.

Example Days Out-

  • Climb the Gorge, bottom to the very top, “Topping out’. I use a variety of routes to achieve this depending on you and your child’s experience and confidence levels. I will often include an abseil to get us all back down to the ground, or we can just walk down past the ice cream van.

(I sometimes move this to the Wye Valley depending on weather, an equally impressive Gorge)

  • Introduction to outdoor climbing in a low stress environment for nervous adults (or kids) I have a range of smaller quieter venues away from the Avon Gorge that fit the bill, again this is for kids who climb regularly.

  • Introduction to sport lead climbing either simulated or for real, adhering to the MTA Rock skills syllabus, at a venue that suits your childs confidence level.

  • Refreshers for parents (or grandparents) coming back to climbing after a break and wanting to keep the kids safe.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or to book your day in.

These are private days for you and your family only, priced at £260 for a full day, and £130 for a half day including any kit you need. A day is 0930am until around 3.30pm.

Venues are within 40 minutes drive of Bristol depending on weather and learning requirements, my venue of choice is of course the Avon Gorge:)
